The Shetland Pony.... Great Things Do Come In Small Packages!

As sure as the Sun rises in the east and sets in the west, kids are drawn to the lovable Shetland Pony, and for good reason! These hardy, rugged animals are originally from the Shetland Islands, about 110 miles off the northern coast of Scotland. The climate there can be very difficult to endure. This resulted in the Shetland developing a thick, double coat during winter, along with a thick mane and tail to aid in keeping the animal warm.

The Shetland has delighted countless fans, both young and old, for a long time. They are among the smallest of all pony breeds, averaging only about 11 hands (44") tall. Don't let their diminutive size deceive you, however, because they are incredibly strong for their size, capable of pulling twice their body weight. In fact, the Shetland can outpull many draft horses! Their small size and calm temperament make them ideal for children & other novice riders. These traits also make them popular among therapists who utilize Equine Assisted Psychotherapy (EAP). https://youtu.be/Ekr05T9Iaio

With a life expectancy that can reach 30 years, the intelligent and lovable Shetland makes a great addition to a family. Help it experience many great years with our 4-in-1 Trifecta which contains a complete vitamin and mineral, hoof, gut, and joint supplement in one feeding. We also offer Hoof and Hair Guard, featuring biotin and the same soybeans used in Glow, making this a great choice for hair growth & coat conditioning as well as strengthening the hoof structure.
